nWo Elite & The End of the nWo era in WCW
After the "Fingerpoke of Doom" incident in WCW, Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan joined forces once again. The rivalry between the nWo Wolfpac and nWo Hollywood had come to an end, and it looked like the New World Order was going to get rebooted. Hulk Hogan, Scott Steiner, Scott Hall and Buff Bagwell became members of the Wolfpac, and this new mixture of superstars now wearing the red and black colours would become known as the "nWo Elite", or to be more specific, the "nWo Wolfpac Elite".
Naturally, if one wasn't part of the "Elite", then you're on the B-team. While the nWo was supposed to be a united force once again in WCW, there was still a split. The nWo B-team, consisting of lower card superstars, were still presented as the "black and white" nWo while the Elite (wearing red and black) were featured in bigger matches with more prominence on TV. So, while this "reboot" was supposed to bring the nWo back to it's former glory days, in reality, nothing changed.
This video follows what happened to the nWo following the Finger Poke of Doom in WCW.
00:00 - The Thunder episode after the Fingerpoke of Doom
05:15 - The Giant is kicked out of the nWo
06:32 - Problems between nWo Elite & nWo B-Team
08:56 - Hogan's title defenses while in "The Elite"
11:38 - The Elite begins to crumble
14:54 - Red and Yellow Hulk Hogan returns
16:36 - Vince Russo and Hulk Hogan
- Much More!

Is this Sheamus narrating?
I thought NWO Elite had Bret hart and Jeff Jarrett in it?
At this point nobody was watching wcw
Lol I love how no matter what happened it always came back around to Hogan winning the belt again. SMH
For life! 🐺
Great video but.... Hogan didn't look like he was screwed at Starrcade 97; regardless of the refs count HOGAN HAD JUST HIT STING WITH A BAT! Why does everyone forget this! When I watched it live, NOTHING seemed botched. It just looked like Bret (who had just been cheated out of his title) didn't want to see Sting get cheated by Hogan, who cheated by using a foreign object. I understand that things didn't go down the way they were supposed to but none of that ruined the moment at all. The Flair/Hogan steel cage match was an absolute mess of booking, but I feel like you ignored the fact that Hogan was actually being cheered heavily that night for some reason. I remember being totally confused by this double turn the fans did with the nwo and Flair, but they actually went with it on that night and Flair was immediately heel going forward. 99 was a mess
Too see how flair was treated in the wcw in mid late 90s is a TRAVESTY
Terry might have been wearing a red and black nwo shirt but he was never in the Wolfpack
Has there ever been a "Hogan's first match" after entering/returning to WCW in which he didn't win the world title. These really were disgusting times in WCW.
"This being wrestling, the retirment didn't last long!" Correction: this being WCW, the retirment didn't last long!
Your essays are much better than what WWE produces. A lot to f great details, but you still trim the fat. You should be working for WWE.
Steve Borden has been apart of a lot of Failed companies! Humm....
Its funny, the B Team had way bigger stars than half the Elite.
Disco inferno sucked as a member of the nwo Wolfpac, so did Vincent and Stevie Ray.
I'm nwo and I'm Wolfpac and I'm nwo 4life
The end of the nwo was the end of wcw
Are you thinking a Bullet Club video?
They had some legendary guys and did nothing with them. What a waste. On the positive side, your videos are great! Keep it up.
Having NWO Elite made no sense. And it didn't fit the narrative at all as it's suppose to show a continued civil war between the two sides which audiences was motivated to watch and wanted to know how it ends.
NWO is a fever dream
Hhhhh
Lmao Scott hall dancing with the cattle prod at the beginning
Its crazy how the nWo brought WCW to the top, then it brought them to the bottom WOW just WOW
The nWo should have been just the 3 guys for way longer. More WCW guys should've gone the DDP way. At this point it was nWo vs nWo in WCW. So WCW lost? Why were we supposed to watch this? Meanwhile some of the best WWF stuff was happening at the time.
If the nwo elite had been about cutting down the number getting back to maybe 6 or so members not counting liz this may had worked but the group was just to big
The song in the beginning is dope, who ever mixed it, good job.
David Flair what a waste of a TV time lol Scott Norton, Crush just taking up space and a waste of tv time lol
nWo 4 Life
The song at the intro fuckin slaps *BROTHER*
Love it
NWO became a dead horse
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
"It was revealed to be David Flair, no one cared about this" lmao
Curt Hennig and his suits lol
Terrible narration. wow
Did the Horsemam ever win one match against NWO? Talk about burying a group
Never got into the Wolfpac, it was same old just different colors
i remember staying uup on a school night watching 3 hours of raw then watching 3 hours of these guys in nitro.wrestling was so good back then but now its meh.
God those WCW tasers were soooooooo lame. Killed every angle when someone would use them. Clown shoes.
Just when you thought the Hogan character couldn't get any more idiotic. Can you imagine your grandpa dressing like a 14 year old kid at the time and the company thinking this was "cool". It's unreal.
Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Hulk Hogan WERE the NWO . . . NEW members screwed it up . . . NWO 2000, the NWO Black And White B-team, and the NWO Elite were EMBARRASMENTS . . . ONLY the NWO Wolfpac was COOL
3:13-I think Hogan looks cool like this!
Scott steiner, Kevin nash, sid vicious, and big show should have been the main NWO vs wcw, would have had way more scenarios to play and would have been awesome
Everyone gets injured except Kevin Nash. That's a bet I'd lose money on....
Hogan couldnt win in WCW cause HULKAMANIA only runs wild in WWE!
The black and white was for rookies Like Virgil. Bryan Addams & Curt Henning.
NWO dosent end till your dead! Its 4 Life And thats 2 sweet!
The 2nd night of the Fall of WCW.
isn't it amazing how people are still doing videos about the nWo and the four horsemen two decades later? somehow i don't see this happening with retribution or the inner circle
you need to make a video of the worst version of the nWo, when the only members were jeff jarrett and the harris brothers
i was cool with hogan in the harley davidson beanie and the flannel until i saw the jeans and the sneakers. edit: nash with jean shorts is another level
Need to do a Sputnik monroe bio.
You got to do a series on wcw wasted talents, Y2J, Mysterio heck even Goldberg.
Ronnie Garvin a true champion? Jesus even David Arquette would laugh his ass off hearing that.
Man, WCW had gold with nwo in 96....and the story should have ended in roughly 98 having helped elevate Goldberg, Sting, and whoever else. They didn't. At this point Goldberg should have been the main focus as Austin was from 98 to 99 in WWE....but nope we had this trash taking up 90% of tv time lol
Thank God Sting wasn't part of this nWo abomination near the end
Sting was lucky to miss this. Though being injured still sucks
A rare curse word from wrestling bios lmao. Trust me we all feel the same way
The nwo should had ended in 98 after starcade 97. Bret hart came over, Sting won the belt, and by that time NWO and the WCW really peaked. If not there, definitely after Goldberg beat Hogan
Hogan was weird for not trying to put ppl over lol. He already was established by the time he was in WCW in solidified his career lol
Russo not wanting to use Hogan was kinda one of the few good ideas he had
I can’t decide if Hogan did more damage to WCW or IMPACT
U the best
When Scott Steiner was leading the black and white nWo they could've had a good storyline where Hulk comes back an they fight for the leadership. Hell, Hulk wins, Scott becomes babyface with the crowd, another top name. Scott Steiner got there anyway, so allg. The world heavyweight championship in WCW in the year 2000 for me felt like "to little to late" or "we've seen this before". Booker T, Scott Steiner and Chris Benoit all became WCW champion but I feep could've been a couple of years earlier, or they would put it on Hogan, Nash, Macho, yawn. Heck, they should've given Goldberg a second chance, but be a heel champion, because he was heel at the time. I guess they probably had ideas like this too, but in the end the big boss gets the final say, which would've been the Time Warner company.
Maybe the original nWo may have maintained greater longevity & freshness if Eric & crew had stayed with just 5-6 core members. Every few months or so, a member other than the OG trio could have either been cast out or left on their own, to be replaced by new member. Maybe that new member could have been an upper mid-carder chosen to boost their stock by proving themselves to the leaders, instead of just staying with the veteran ex-wwf guys. The separate factions were fresh at 1st, but every incarnation just made things convoluted, which is why the wheels came off.
Mr. Perfect was B team. But Buff Bagwell was elite. I never understood that
Still own my Red n Black nWo T-shirt.. they were all the kewl guys .. The Wolfpac theme song still hits .. Red and Black combination of colors have always been a personal favorite of mine..
We all know old brothers, nWo Elite & The End of the nWo nwo wolfpac nwo debut
After watching this and other instances where Nash was put in charged how can you not say he helped sink WCW
and the new world order begins with the lockdowns of all the countries in the world over a damn flu....time to wake up...ted turner is a globalist and he owned wcw...they show you what they are going to do before they do it so stop acting like the nwo is just a fictional wrestling group its REAL
I remember back then I watched Raw religiously but would always tape Nitro when Cartoon Network went off the air and I vividly remember that Nitro when Stevie Ray won the battle royal and to this day I have no idea why
Hogan looked like he was new leader of the Flock dressed like that 😂
The Hogan ego makes me resent him more..
Its a shame curt henning was treated as a b level wresler
3:14 that. I still laugh whenever I see hogan dressed like that.
I didn't realize Bullet Club Elite was probably named after NWO Elite.
For me end of pro wrestling thankfully many years later i can watch wrestling again thanks to aew
they rehashed this group too many times nwo nwo hollywood, wolfpac, nwo 2000 even ecw copied it with the blue world order ppl were fed up of seeing the nwo all the time. they should've put more younger stars to main event position like eddie, dean malenko, konnan, scott steiner etc and not make such mistakes as fingerpoke of doom etc.
Theory- hogan laid down for sting because their matches sucked and hogan was in rough shape. He laid down to save face and blamed Russo
i didnt really notice back then (or if i did, ive forgotten), but there were a LOT of run ins during matches in wcw. could probly make a drinking game out of it
The NWO "B-Team" should have just been immediately disbanded.
This nitro marked the end of the big show in wcw
I am a Hulk Hogan fan but I think he, Nash & hall are equally to blame for the downfall of wcw - their selfishness meant that story lines did not make coherent sense and the egos meant that all matches never had clean finishes or clear winners. WWF was the total opposite at the time from memory
I remember I completely converted to WWE at this point.
God dang, trying to follow this convoluted story line is exhausting. And I am talking about just watching your video recap of it. It feels like Vizzini trying to explain why he is so smrt to Wesley. Love your channel.
I wanna see more wwf and wwe videos!
It makes me so happy that Sting and Macho Man weren’t involved in this atrocity.
Have you ever loved a new song, only to tire of it because it was played right into the ground? That is exactly what happened with NWO.
Brilliant as always my man! Great watch
The most frustrating thing about the nWo (all of it's iterations) was that there was no obvious plan to end the angle. It was just one long regurgitated story which they tried to keep milking as long as possible. Eric on his podcast has talked about there being a beginning, middle, and end to angles before just as their are in any story. Well there was a beginning and a middle to the nWo---but no ending. WCW should have come together and finally ended the threat of the nWo once and for all. Hogan either going away for awhile and coming back as Hulkamania for "one last run" etc. But SOMETHING should have been done to end this and move on to other things. Eric has also admitted to being poor at match finishes---well this evident with all the run in and showed this. It's a shame because WCW NEEDED to "win" this war and they never did. Also Hogan continuing to wear black and white while supposedly the leader of the Wolfpac Elite :P
I thought Nash cleared all that up on guest booker when he explained what the nWo Elite/Goldberg feud should have been. Unfortunately injuries killed a lot of it.
Mongols vs Hells Angels
To see Hogan and Scott Steiner walking together is quite funny, knowing how much they dislike each other.
The NWO elite was straight trash and I didn’t like the fact that Hogan was in the Wolfpack instead of his traditional Hollywood colors......
red face sting was the worst.
I missed a lot of the NWO angle but some how was around for this lol. Sting in red face paint was always odd to me
How TF was Virgil/Vincent still employed at this point? Dude got paid to do nothing
He wrestled now and then on Saturday Night.. Maybe house shows?
You always gotta have a black guy
I have to watch these later wcw bios in slow motion to half way get what’s going on
6:28...I’d say it was pretty fortunate.
