WCW Nitro goes head to head with WWF Raw in another Monday Night television ratings battle! The date is 4.29.96, the WWF have been leading the way in the ratings recently as WCW hasn’t been building to anything significant on pay per view.
This week, Nitro is taped. The WCW show also broadcasted 1 hour earlier than normal due to a NBA game airing on TNT. Eric Bishcoff and company have a big surprise in store this week though and it all goes down in the main event, Ric Flair vs The Giant for the WCW Heavyweight Championship.
WWF Raw is live this week on the USA Network, it’s the night after In Your House: Good Friends, Better Enemies, and Vince McMahon is already looking ahead to the next pay per view. Shawn Michaels begins his rivalry with The British Bulldog on this episode of Raw, a rivalry that also includes Diana Smith. The Ultimate Warrior also has his debut WWF Raw match this week.

I cant get enough of this.Great job man.thank you!
15:00, Cue the Mortal Kombat "Tower" theme.
Uh, Cornette, you're usually one of the best talkers in the business, but if Shawn had "deflowered" Diana then her marriage with the Bulldog was going really poorly. If the WWF was smart they would have put the New Rockers against the Bodydonis. At least the workrate would have been good.
Harlem heat were dope
One of the first marque matchups I recall ever seeing on WCW Nitro. It's been way too long since I've seen that episode (1996 is when I was 11 years old, so there goes to show you.) But I greatly recall when "The Giant" chokeslammed "Lex Luger" & that's when I continued to watch Nitro more-so than "Raw" for the next year & a half until '98 when WWF hit it's high-mark.
thanks
I just wanted to let you know something. I only started watching these maybe last week and I am almost caught up. My cat just passed away, I had him more than 17 years and this has helped take my mind of things. Either way you do such a detailed and great job re-living all these memories. There are some good podcasts on wrestling out there, but you are easily the king of ALfirst and this format. Great work.
This was probably the worst showing for Raw since the early '95 episodes.
Warrior University=Trump University.
Giant selling those brass knuckles🤣🤣
I actually watched this episode of Raw back in the day, enjoyed it... at the time 😂
Bookers shoulders clearly came off the mat
A world title match between flair and the giant. That's all well and good. But the main event still has to be the booty man and Hogan right.
Warrior was so embarrassing. A true black mark on the wrestling industry
Geez, Scott Norton looked like he was made out of concrete.
Great video upload again wrestling bios keep them coming cheers enjoy watching them some parts of this video ive got on dvd as well 😀
Big Droppa Dump
I'm subbing to keep up with this series. Can't wait to see more as we progress into the austin era and nwo.
its noting to get excited sbout i pretty sure its just glacier
is that scotty 2 hotty
you can see a bandage on mankinds finger while he gives the mandible claw to bart
Nice to see Mongo's dog get some respect. He's better to watch than a Hogan main event on nitro.
Is it messed up that I thought of freight train when he said Ice Train?
REQUEST: The Rock in 2005. I read the WWE let his contract run out without attempting to re-sign him causing tension and leading to Rocky being away for longer than expected. Can you address that please, thanks.
Who remembers when Sunny left Body Donnas when they lost the tag titles to the Smoking Guns? And then again when the Guns lost to the Hog Farmers. She ended up getting slopped.
11:39 that's Bret's rope
ALfirst censors
Gotta love JC
Fantastic as always, thank you
I love the intro
Gotta point something out tho.... The giant wins the WCW Heavyweight title from Flair... But name tag on the belt says Macho Man 😆 i think Eric Bischoff forgot one little piece of ring gear that probably should have been changed when the title did the first time LOL
Watch every episode brother. Man this series DESERVES to be on the WWE network. Its THAT GOOD! Keep it up!!!
When it comes to cutting promos you gonna lose to cornett. He just thevbest at promos
Because he could make you believe what he was saying. He never came off like he was trying to be a character.
Isn't it funny that back then WWF was the classier company and nowadays they are nothing but classless LOL JJ h
what's up with all pointless rambling get to the point
The wrestling wars rocked good old days

What gets me is that WWF knows what WCW offers & their matches etc as it was pre-recorded. Why on earth do they not change their programme enough knowing this. On both when one is live & other isn't???
WWF then not saying results of WWC WRASSLINN shows how they were miles above the petty Eric Bischoff. WCW got buried in the end because it was so slow to adapt & their arrogance amongst so many other things 👍
LOVE Wrestling Bios, HATE the opening music. Is it just me or . . . ?
Ta for another AMAZING upload Matey ❤️👍🙂 Top stuff thank you.
I do this on the network compare wwf and wcw And ecw ppvs, highlight of my nite to night 🔥🔥
The Mandible Claw is one of the lamest finishers of all time. Like how TF would that hurt? And wtf would the opponent not helping at bite his fingers?!?
Hacksaw vs. The Giant that will put butts in the seats.
You need to get a life! You are a grown man making videoes about pre determined results of men play fighting in their underwear.
@ZCS theres no need for that! Please tone it down.
You really need to learn how to troll better.
How could the wwe give away intros results if they went on a hour before raw? Was nitro 2 hours?
Can you do a video on FCW
When Hogan is on Nitro being the American Made Hogan, Nitro seems to do better.
Oh my Sack that intro just brought back memories!
When he said he couldn't wait for the arrival of glazier..... me I thought hold on didn't you do a video on glazier a few weeks ago? Lol in the pandemic era lol
I look forward to seeing the reviews when Scott Hall and Kevin Nash appear on Nitro.
That intro was LEGENDARY.
17:10 I know the Godwins can'T Wrestle, but they had Hillbilly Jims Theme, so they are awesome ;-D
15:05 Glacier! Great
15:05 I'm sure that's Glacier
GLACIER!! :d
Jim Cornette video!!!!!!!
Foley cut himself before the match...
I love that the timing between the Patreon upload and the ALfirst upload is just enough time to where I want to watch it again
Nearly a clean sweep for Nitro segments. WWF sucked during this time - the Shawn Michaels era.
Regal and Finlay had some good matches during this period. Not sure if you guys in Europe were able to see much of them or their style in the 90's, but it was fresh for us in the US. The international element of WCW during this period was a nice feature that gave the undercard freshness and diversity. Finlay and Regal were both very good at this time.
Memory can be a strange thing. If you had asked me before this series started, there are a lot of things I thought I remembered from the early Monday night war period that I would thought have been a major component by April 29, 1996. Where is Raven's flock? The luchadores? The Cruiserweight title? Where is Ken Shamrock? Farooq? I suppose all of this is coming, but I would have thought that they started in the early months of Monday Night wars. In any case, I remember being very enthusiastic about Monday night wrestling by this period, and was asking my boss to have every Monday night off. It was so much better than what wrestling had been prior to this.
bro i refresh my youtube most of the time because of u. u light up my day, thanks for that awesome content! u relive the time when i was a kid and didnt get it most of the time! now i really get back to it! greetings from germany!
I chuckled at the MK music during the debut tease. Nicely done.
Spoiler Alert: Isaac Yankem becomes Kane!
It's funny to watch Austins offence pre-piledriver. He was a machine back in WCW and had Bischoff had any sense he'd have seen that and kept him around. That said he probably would have been lost in the mix as a mid-carder, elevating guys, but letting him go was ridiculous.
Why do I love this channel? Cause when a match has low crowd noise you try and investigate why by researching the dark matches. It's that care that makes this the cream of the crop
Love the attention to detail. In this case, checking to see what the pre raw dark matches were and how they would have influenced the opening bout. That’s quite impressive
Dirty diana
The entrance with the giant was funny, all I could think about was the Jolly Green Giant. I have a craving for green beans now
Never seen a jim Duggan match I enjoyed
Might not be your cup of tea, but check out some Mid-South stuff.
Reliving The War and Costco Pizza. Is the best. Combo. Ever!! And yay! Another Reliving The War! Can't wait to watch it!!!
🤟😎🤟🍻🇨🇦
This series will peak will around 1998 cant wait till then
Stevie Ray is a terrible wrestler compared to Booker T. Stevie Rays matches essentially boil down to him punching and kicking, doing a body slam and rest holds. Then he tags Booker in and Booker actually does stuff. I really enjoyed the Parking lot brawl with Regal vs Finlay too. That piledriver on the car at the end looked awesome.
I watch everyone he has put out I was born in 1990 so yes this is when my child hood started thanks for this
Look forward to this after work every Thursday night
The Austin Swing 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Love the small details ‼️
I remember that video on the portal that frosts the screen. no I wasn't looking forward to what came the fallowing weeks. at that time
Shame fire and ice didn't achieve more success they were a good tag team
shawn mustve been high to mock hogan
Stil love these videos every week
Thanks mate.
man RAW sucked that week. no decent matches at all.
I love this series!!!!!
God id love to talk to him for hours about pro wrestling of the past.
15:13 - “...whatever this is...” Like he doesn’t know haha... Another great episode. By the way, the sole lost point for Nitro during a Flair promo....who’da thought?
Yes!!!! Thurdays raw vs nitro!!!!
I look forward to Thursdays because of Reliving the War.
Had to stop watching to go look up the No Pants Street Fight between Regal & Finlay. Man that was awesome.
9:47. We all know and love Teddy Long. Now meet Teddy Thicc.
Bulldog was such a terrible heel.
No Hogan and WCW wins what a shock.
Haha the middle school days when i used to argue with my mom to stay up lmao. See in Hawaii these were played at 9pm ended at 11pm
And mongos dog lmao get me everytime
Ultimate warrior vs kane
Who keeps down voting this series?why,it's awesome
Other wrestling channels that didn’t think about this. Only thing I’m surprised by is why doesn’t this channel has more subscribers ....Best wrestling channel right now....Bring on the nostalgia ...
Ice Train look like Will Hobs.
That goddamn chihuahua.......
McMongo loves his Chiuahuas. He even has one now in 2020.
Even 8 year old me knew the Warrior was old news by this point. I remember flipping back and forth and consistently settling on nitro. Plus I remember being upset Vader was not getting a shot at HBK right away. Being from Colorado I always loved him. Great series, thank you for your hard work.
Could you do belt collector Kurt angle? Please! You are awesome dude!
