WWF Raw and WCW Nitro go head-to-head in "Reliving The War", a series on Wrestling Bios where we go back in time, looking at every episode of Raw and Nitro during the popular "Monday Night Wars" era of professional wrestling.
This weeks shows would prove to be landmark episodes of both Monday Night Raw and Monday Nitro. On the WCW side, the very first Sting vs Hulk Hogan match would air for free in the Nitro main event. Sting and Hulk Hogan would later break WCW PPV records, but here on Nitro we got to see the Hogan vs Sting match for the very first time. Over on WWF Raw, Shawn Michaels' push to the WWF championship would begin when Shawn collapses in the ring. Shawn has a match with Owen Hart, and when Owen hits an enziguri on Michaels, Shawn collapses and Raw goes off the air. Shawn would return at the 1996 Royal Rumble, winning the Rumble match while earning a WWF Championship match against Bret Hart at WrestleMania XII.
Wrestlers and personalities featured on this episode include Brian Pillman, Road Warrior Hawk, Savio Vega, Diesel, Hakushi and more.

X pac should always have a beard my god 😐
Still one of the top Raw endings.
WWE has always been king of selling merch, WCW barely had any merch that I can recall, that hurt them financially no doubt.
$49 for a CD, lol
Having a bret hart denim jacket would be the ultimate canadian tuxedo... ok i'll see myself out
the best series on youtube period
at 13:16 look how pissed Eric is at Mongo spieling the ending haha
DIESEL promo was one of the 1st " worked shoot " promos as was the HBK injury angle. What made BOTH GREAT was the nuances, DIESEL mentioning VKM/Corporate WWF and then when VINCE Later left his post in commentary to check on HBK. The ANGLE was serious and BC it was treated as such, it resulted in HUGE Success. Some can point to this as the BEGINNING of SHAWN'S Strong Babyface PUSH that would culminate w him being on Top for the first time, winning the Title @WM12.. It's ALL in the nuances. Something that is NON-EXISTENT in AEW/WWE Today...
I watched a sting video awhile back I know it's a little bit away but that interview was saying wrestling was so big in 97 they were getting like 30 40 million viewers u dont understand the 2 point are 3 point ratings but it cant be close to 20 million maybe 3 4 million at the most so I'm confused
It's been good to fill in the gaps in my memory, the earliest stuff i remember as a kid was when NWO happened and Sting became Crow Sting.
I have a request/recommendation. A "title change tracker". I've kept up with it so far, and each promotions tag team titles have changed hands and the WWF Women's Title changed hands. I'm not gonna dignify the WCW Halloween Havoc related title change silliness.
I've heard that Diesel segment referred to as the first time Vince being the owner was ever acknowledged in KayFabe.
I've watched this series front to back so many times, I can't freaking wait until we get the the attitude era proper! This has quickly become my favorite ALfirst channel.
Credit to Mongol for the improvision
Thanks for your incredible job ! I’m a fan your videos!
16:51 lol
Honestly, I would agree with you about Eddie being the new MVP if it wasnt for the brilliant Ric Flair. Hes been owning Nitro as far as "being the better alternative" since its first episode.
I figured King Mabels team would have been "the Darkside team"...I mean, you know...come on they seriously are!
My mum still has that HBK denim jacket 😂
“What are ya buyin”
Resident evil 4 merchant cracks me up every time 😆😆😆
Yeah some real unknown names in that women's match. You know... Just legendary puroresu stars. I'm just messing around. Admittedly, Watanabe, Asari, and Hasegawa aren't exactly household names, even in Japan.
But the match also features Lioness Asuka, Kyoko Inoue and Aja Kong.
Really good idea. I've been binge watching like crazy
It struck me during this one, some type of collaboration with OSW Review might be really awesome.
Any wrestler looking to sue for brain damage needs to just bring these few episodes to court
Hold up. Did my man just call Lioness Asuka, Kyoko Inoue and Aja Kong unknown names? I like your content but you are smarter than that. Those women were wildly successful in Japan. Please do research next time dude.
Scott Norton never got a good push .It would have been perfect for him after nWo pretty much broke up.
Keep uploading this memories from the golden times of pro wrestling 👍
i remember cornet talking about Shawn supposedly passing out , and the way they played it out made it seem real
wow raws making a quick comeback.
All Raw was was advancing storylines at the expense of in ring action - even when it was good
As always great video
Thank you for getting me through some dark times in my life. The last year and change has been rough but your videos have kept me pushing through.
H
My pleasure. If the videos help out and make people forget about any problems, then I'm doing my job :) Take care Matt.
Raw need one point tie it up
90s raw theme > 2002 raw theme
As someone who wasn't alive when the war was hot I freaking love these videos!
Dang! I love the way you mix the two intro themes together . It almost sounds like they actually go together
You know this is the only series on ALfirst where I hate when I miss an episode
Crazy to think Bam Bam was headlining Mania XI in the April, and by November he was gone! His face turn wasn’t that great in fairness!
Anything after the big buy/sell out was for 5yr olds. Anything after Wrestlemania III is pushin it.
Hogan was working heel before nwo? And wearing black? How did I miss this? And how did they get away with hogan turning heel, then baby face, then straight back to heel and it was still a huge surprise?
This is an awesome series. I can’t wait until you get to January 29th! That Nitro was my first live event!!!
Sting is so much cooler than Hogan at this point.
Awesome show as always
Patiently look forward and wait for this every week!! Ohhh the nostalgia🙂 love it! There was nothing like being a wrestling fan in '95-2001
I look forward to this every week. I cant wait till next week. And im so going to subscribe to the podcast.
Just caught on to these. Thanks great work
This is fun
11:27 guy got a suffocation shirt, nice 🤘
Rem seeing those jackets at a beach store around 97 lol
Uncensored version of Across the Nation where did u find it???
i have a suggestion could u also do a reliving the war of smackdown! vs Thunder perhaps?
Hogan without a mustache looks like John Cleese.
Haha. Was Savio Vega the original Roman Reigns?
Twice a week! Twice a week!
21:58 WURSEL *BLING*
It’s crazy when you think of the number of New Generation wrestlers who Bret had their best match with. Owen, Diesel, Bam Bam, 123 Kid etc.
For the record, the wild card match was my favorite traditional survivor series match ever.
Great!
“Dok Hendrix is on the good ole white powder.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
These get better every week thank you
*Fun Fact* Hogan was so shook of this crowd reaction, at the very start of the next ppv, he burned the darkside outfit and kissed Stings ass blatantly. Hulkster got a real scare of becoming heel here lol, as he was when he eventually did.
Ted million dollar man had to be the happiest wrestler ever. He said Vince told him that to keep his gimmick up Vince flew him first class every where and took limousines every where and Vince gave him thousands of dollar bills to make sure that his gimmick was protected high class restaurants and hotel sweets you wonder how many wrestlers where jealous of him
Does wrestling do the over the phone thing anymore or is it via satellite
The 90's Raw Big Wigs are giving you heat huh? making threats about nitro winning so much? don't let them bully you into giving wins to raw that are undeserved! lol of course i am kidding :) i love this series, and i have wanted to rewatch mid 90's monday night war again for so long but never could get into it enough to watch again but this show you do has given me a reason to watch both sides from the beginning again like i did back when i was watching them in the 90s! (usually watch wcw and record wwf on video tape) :)
SPORT THE WAR! WAR SUPPORT!
Thank you so much for doing these videos, This was such a woderful time of my childhood, Its so great to go back in time, I will never forget me and my brothers really thought that shawn was hurt, And the Diesel promo was so far ahead of its time !
Diesel and Marty Janetty should've formed a tag team with each other called "The Sore Losers". lol
I think that HBKs attire from the SS 95 was his best ever.. that red and white looked so cool
“Doc Hendricks has been on the good ole white powder” lmfaooooooooo
Wwwwwweeeeellllll....😂😂😂
12:10 Look at Sunny in her prime...... before she became a dump truck.
Is there anything to be said for a Doc Hendrix video
I just turned 17 in October as this "war" began....good memories...this series is pure genius and you do an incredible job covering it...keep at it my friend
lel Ahmed Johnson
Impressive on the WWF and they really pulled out all the stops. WCW, well, let's just say needed some work
i like your Video very mutch. From 95 to the early 2000er in germany we didn`t have a big choice to watch wrestling in normal TV. WWF was only on PayTV and WCW was THE thing to watch. The only thing.
I liked Scott Norton and tenta why the hate man
Fantastic 👏 remixed God damnit
This series is phenomenal 😍
Can't you do more than one a week ? It's too good Let's do 2 a week and then we can get through it in. 2 years .
Another amazing video keep up the amazing work n I literally look forward to seeing this every week bro
I may have disagreed with your last episode of Reliving The War. This Episode I fully agree with all your opinion. This Raw was the best one yet in this series. I enjoy the 123 Kid match since it build his new heel stuff, the Diesel promo was awesome (can’t believe it was overlooked over the years tbh) and the Owen/HBK match was awesome & I think it was a good finish too cause it kept you guessing. I thought it was done so well to build HBK as the top babyface. Great stuff!! Nitro was alright. Not as good as some of the previous weeks due to a lot of filler squash matches. But Guerrero/Pillman was awesome and I like Hogan/Sting til the finish. Anyway I’m loving this series. It’s awesome. Keep it up!! 😊👍🏻
Everytime I see these videos u always pick a tape raw over a live nitro and wcw was hot at that point and time
Another great video brotha BUT the wild card is sort of around still . I’m talking about the Survivor series when the it’s Raw vs Smackdown vs NXT in the main event. Still a great video keep up the good work
Of course HBK vs Owen Hart was gonna be hard to beat for a main event!
Big Daddy Cewl
Great series and channel, it's very nostalgic to reminisce about the old WWF days
I just can't get enough of this series. Wish there was as big a back catalog as the other wrestling bios vids. Can't wait till we get to the Raw vs Smackdown stuff in the future & eventually AEW vs NXT. Keep it going man
Dude these videos are perfection! Thank you for making these videos! They keep me entertained and bring back memories!
This series is great its gonna get even better in 96 and especially 97
Diesel became a tweener after droping the belt to hart. It was very interesting to see him been half face half heel, it was something we would see during the attitude era but in that new generation Era it was very rare to have that kind of tweener character.
Survivor series 1995 was the only good WWF PPV of that year. And i liked the wild card match.
Relive the war should be on the network.
Would of been a whitewash without eddie and brain thank god they were always with wcw lol
Where do you get your intro themes from?
The wildcard match at SS95 was great. Lots of fun and so many booking possibilities through a match like that. And the Diesel/Bret match was fantastic. Probably Diesel's best match ever, and might be in Bret's top 10, which is saying a lot. Absolutely felt like a real fight, not a wrestling match 👍
I liked that PPV. The only good PPV of 1995. The wild card match was fun.
idk whos doing these intros but they are banging \m/ and where can i get the full versions at ?
Bien waiting on this.... you single handedly brought me back to wrestling.
Having a run in to save Hogan for defeat is about as clear cut as you were going to get in these days on Nitro. The fact that Hogan let himself look weak to Sting shocked me back then.
Nice face paint job on the Shark. The WCW face paint artist was killing it in 1995.
