Total Nonstop Action, TNA, is a wrestling organization that was founded by Jeff Jarrett, Jerry Jarrett and Bob Ryder in 2002. When Vince McMahon purchased WCW in 2001, TNA hoped to become the first wrestling company to rise up. Alternatives were needed, the WCW buyout had left a huge gap in the market and also, a lot of guys needed work. The Jarretts were hopeful that TNA could fill the void, giving fans a new wrestling product while giving superstars a place to wrestle. It looked like the WWE was not going to be the only place to get some TV time afterall.
Thanks to a partnership with the National Wrestling Alliance, TNA was able to host NWA Championship matches on their weekly PPVs. The NWA was also a recognizable entity within the wrestling landscape, so the partnership benefited both TNA and the National Wrestling Landscape. TNA prospered with the NWA name being associated with the company, and the NWA could attempt to restore some of their past glory by exposing the NWA championship to wrestling audiences once again. The very first NWA-TNA show took place on June 18th 2006, and the main event would feature a unique NWA Heavyweight Championship match. This video looks at the entire show.

The First Ever TNA Weekly Show
1 139 Shikime 116 mijë
3rd rate at best. Tna never contended with wwe. Never
The ONLY thing I'd change on the graphics on the intro is one word(2 words depending on who is talking)....TURNBUCKLES...
I used to have most of these recorded on VHS, but my wife tossed them when we moved. Interesting time in wrestling . . .There ended up being a lot of stuff in TNA I liked though at times.
I miss making the drive to Nashville every week. Check out NWA-TNA X Plosion. It was the show they broadcast locally around Tennessee before they went national. I would have archived every single match online but at the time, but there were no video hosting sites except for one that had a limit of about two matches at once. Also around that time, the company's web presence was run by fans. We would all communicate through a public message board. It was one of the coolest things ever that a lot of people missed out on. Hell, we got that thing off the ground though and it took off running. Talk about sick. Ever had a dog leave home and not come back? Well i guess that's what it felt like. #Wot?
Jeff demanded money he was owed
Nice try, Jeff... Nice try. And I wish I could remember that Ferrara Special Olympics joke... it's gonna bother me all day. What a scumbag Ferrara is.
This seems like an absolute dumpster fire.. 😆😭😭
They had toby keith??!? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Loved this video, and please do more!!
who was the last nwa champion before tna took it?
I absolutely loved TNA , still do, but those first five years or so were amazing.
Lil homie had on some space jamz haha
Early TNA stuff sure bears revisiting, if not for the sake of historical perspective.
Please, please cover the PPV with the blindfold falling off match and the "electrified" cage match. That was amazing 😂
Having this narrated is annoying as F. Id rather just go watch the first episode
SCOTT HALL IS A LEGEND
The marvelous me song is straight fire 🔥
For some 90s wrestling trip vlogs.... come sub my channel for some awesome 90s wcw WWF wrestlers behind the scenes footage
The Dupps really needed another brother or relative .............. Fug Dupp. Lol
Im starting to think that wrestling bios has some insiders in the wrestling industry because this impact wrestling is right on time
NWA-TNA (Now Impact Wrestling) is now hosting one of its biggest debuts since the start of it's promotion.
Happy to see this. Never got to watch TNA. Would love to learn and see more about the superstars and stories.
aew is the NEW...tna
watching this now that Impact and AEW have a partnership
Damn Francine was stunning.
Tna did not drop the nwa titles until 2008
RIP Bob Ryder
tits n' ass
Great vid as usual. Just reading the comments, and do some people realise tna is still in existence? I know it's had name changes, but so has wwe,(WWF, wwwf, capitol sports etc), and it's the best wrestling show on tv at the moment I think. Anyway, sad to see the death of the man shown at the start of this, Bob Ryder, a founder of tna, who was still employed by the impact and the "life and soul" of the company.
More please
Ferrara looks so carny
Ed Ferrara is complete trash. I just don't understand how he kept getting jobs?
Ed Ferrara out there looking like the 6th member of Korn.
ed Ferrara really is a total scum bag..
You should become a wrestling historian
16:54 - early-00s NASCAR fan here: at the time this PPV aired Sterling Marlin was the top driver in NASCAR's top level of racing, then called the Winston Cup - in 2002 he held the series' points lead until around September, then suffered a broken neck in a crash a week or two after falling out of 1st; and while he did recover enough to return for 2003 his career was never the same, and he retired in 2009. Hermie Sadler... well, to be blunt he didn't have much success in NASCAR - in 66 career Cup Series starts over a span of 20 years his _best_ finish was 18th (in a series that ran 43 cars per race at the time), at a race held 2 months prior to this show. In fact over the course of his career he _failed to qualify_ for almost as many events as he actually ran in; 52 to 66.
How many PPV buys and how much was it?
Ron Killing's (R-Truth) first NWA title reign
That song at the beginning is a rip off of “Those shoes” by The Eagles!
TNA content would be dope. I’d like you to highlight the Samoa Joe and Angle cues. Anything AJ Styles and I wouldn’t mind a video on Ken Shamrock’s entire runnin TNA because I didn’t know he was ever in TNA.
TNA had me interested in the early years
Stan Dup
Wifey for lifey FRANCINE! Had no idea she was at the 1st TNA show! Francine is so sexy young and she’s aged like WINE 🍷......😘😘😘😘😘😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank You 🙏 for this video!
The NWA title is the most prestigious and sort after title in all of professional wrestling. How did Steamboat say that with a straight face?
Ed ferrera with dreads
Don’t ever apologize for knowing nothing about NASCAR.
AJ Styles BUILT, perfected, and made TNA the company it was . . . Now it's IMPACT! Wrestling and it is a JOKE . . .
The guy with the braid's was stupid I'm glad they replaced him
Weekly TNA Series Just Like Monday Night Wars would be tremendous
Is Scott Hall there because he got fired from WWE after the Plain Ride from Hell right?
Could you do a video about the introduction of the Impact X Division Championship
As someone who doesn't really follow TNA or Impact Wrestling or whatever it is now, I wouldn't mind a weekly history lesson. I tried watching it sporadically over the years but I just couldn't get the right viewing schedule.
It's about time you started coving TNA/Impact!
Put the belt on Shamrock and have him call out the WWE champ every week for a shoot fight lol
Dude please..... at least activate the auto-captions, I'm not trying be an arsehole, but I love your vids and I'm hearing impaired.
Yeah baby this is what I wanted. Thank you Wrestling bios TNA is my favourite 👍
I implore everyone who decides to watch this show to go listen to newLegacyinc's audio commentary of it on Soundcloud. Trust me, they make this first PPV a thousand times better.
I enjoyed it. A good next one to do would be the one about a year later, definitely 2003, where they were still doing weekly ppv's and they actually built a big match up well, Jarrett vs Raven for the world title. I got it via tape trader at the time and remember it being overall the best show they'd run to that point. It's be interesting to see how it compares to the first one.
Glad to see you covering TNA, mate. I know so little about it and see it covered so little so I know I'd watch anything TNA you did - which hopefully'll be a lot more.
it is not insane that they say it sucks. They are big names with big egos and believe they deserve the front line title shot
Time to hit up Impact’s first show.
This was an interesting combination of modern wrestling and southern "rasslin".
I never got into TNA so I really don't know much about it. This is basically a whole new world for me, so I'll allow you to shape it however you please!
I'd definitely like to see more TNA coverage!
Know nothing about TNA, would love more videos on it! Great video!
Enjoyed it… Would really like to see more of this.
Wow, Ricky Steamboat's hair has filled in nicely!
Jeff jarret shoulda sat those main events out. they had some far better guys that coulda done better for the company. The money at this point would have been shamrock vs Scott hall. Yeah, Scott wasnt sticking around, that's why you get all you can out of him before wwe or his demons get his attention.
I absolutely loved TNA for the first 10 years of its existence but I don't think it ever recovered from the "lol TNA" Era
i was so excited when this era of TNA started. this was my childhood, i missed all the wcw stuff but my dad would always talk about it then TNA became WCW v2. i loved it
Could we stuff on AJ styles , MEM and Sting
More TNA content plz
My uncle was the only one I knew that ordered the nwa tna ppv. The only wrestler I remember was x pac. I was maybe 9.
Awesome Scott Hall has a Landing strip shirt on this video and the nwo2000 one also. It’s a strip club in ATX
I'd love to see an episode of the Jeff Hardy-Victory Road 2011 fiasco and the Involvement of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff. Those are great insight episodes.
I wish I watched more of it... I caught some around 2005-6. Then later on I started in 2012-2015. My first and only wrestling event was in 2013 watching TNA in Norfolk, VA. It was pretty good, but I got sick of Dixie Carter. My next wrestling event was planned for WrestleMania weekend this year, but we all know what happened there.
Yeah. This whole show has Vince Russo written all over it.
X¬Division/Cruiserweight type matches used to be a Special thing. Still are, imo, when done right by the right people and not almost EVERYONE on a Roster. I could say the same for Announce Tables, Kendo Sticks, Ladders and Chairs, though.😅 OMG, that was Trevor Murdock??😮 Dude today (on NWA) looks like he aged 40yrs instead of 18.😬 TNA tried to cater to the Attitude Era fans. But they, like AEW today, just became another RAW 2.0. I'm cool w/ you doing more TNA based episodes. There's alot of History there i don't know about because i started watching TNA in 2009.😬
This 1st TNA show is better than any AEW show
PPV TNA was great very underrated
More TNA i got into tna around the time gail and Kong were rivals. I stopped watching when they got hogan involved
I would love to see more than just WWE and WCW content. I loved this. Thanks
No Cheex match?
Was the ref for the johnsons match the fallen angel
How do you eliminate Rick Rick Steiner or Scott Hall?
Kwee Wee for the WWE HoF 2021!!!
mike tenay looks like benjamin franklin
great doc
Jesus this is why russo shouldn't be in creative
Go watch AEW 💩
Scott hall should've definitely got the NWA-TNA belt in the early days of the company circa 2002
Christian Cage was my favorite NWA World Champion
Can you cover the Booker T vs Chris Benoit Best of 7 US title series they did?
Excellent episode. I hope when you complete Reliving the War with RAW vs Nitro you switch over to WWE vs TNA weekly commentary keeping the same format.
More please! As a wrestling fan I missed a great deal of tna. I would love more history of it like this. Thank you!
I thought that was Road Dogg's brother till you said Ed Ferarra
Scott Hall's TNA theme music is his best ever and I'd put it up there with the best.
@12:23 Jim Cornette’s son, Brian Zane’s brother.
I wanna see about the six sided ring and aj styles and Jeff jarret and sting's career in tna mostly the joker sting
This has been one of my favorite videos you've made. Id love for you to do more of these. Maybe a review of each months worth of shows.
I was here when reliving the war started. So happy to see the channel grow. Keep grinding brother. Respect from new Jersey
