Wrestling Bios Presents - The Career of The Undertaker: 1996
Continuing on looking at one of the most celebrated and popular superstars in the world of professional wrestling, today's video looks at The Undertaker during 1996.
1996 would start off with The Undertaker getting a WWF championship oppurtunity at Bret Hart. The two legends met in the ring at Royal Rumble 1996, but Diesel cost The Undertaker the championship. This set up a match between Diesel and Undertaker at WrestleMania XII. After WrestleMania, Mankind made his WWF debut and went straight for The Undertaker. The remainder of 1996 featured Undertaker working with Mankind while also finding time to have matches with the likes of Goldust and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
This mini documentary from Wrestling Bios looks at The Undertaker's entire 1996. Topics included in this video:
01:26 - Undertaker vs Bret Hart at Royal Rumble 1996
04:37 - Undertaker shows up during the Diesel vs Bret Hart IYH Cage match
06:53 - Undertaker, Diesel, and The Casket
09:14 - Undertaker vs Diesel at WrestleMania 12
10:43 - Mankind debuts in the WWF

I think Undertaker and Chris Jericho could almost be the 2 best wrestlers of all time. Both were able to change with the times and never got stale. Hogan, Austin, Bret, the Rock, Cena, all were the same character more or less. The more I watch this channel, the more I'm impressed on how well Wrestling Bios does research and explains everything. Another fantastic video.
What was Mankind’s problem with the Undertaker? Why did he come in and immediately start attacking him?
I remember that match between “Taker” and Bradshaw and MANKIND showed up. I was like WTF
That was an excellent Bio.
Undertaker won the buried alive match
i wonder if undertaker/mark calloway has seen this videos himself??
i always like undertaker undertaker is my one of favorite wrestler all time
Just giving you a heads up. The Undertaker actually won the buried alive match against Mankind. He covered him up with enough dirt to give him the win. But while he was trying to fully cover him, he was hit in the back of the head by a shovel from The Executioner. Then Mankind was pulled out of the grave, and him and the other heels buried Taker alive. But The Undertaker is credited for winning the match. Just giving you a heads up. You're channel is awesome! Love all your wrestling content!
The purple glove coming out of the grave is ICONIC.
Congrats on your many more Subscribers. Currently at 178K. & wonderful hardwork of these videos. Brings back memories specifically of this Undertaker Scaring me as a lil kid 😂🤣
Ahhh, Mankind/Undertaker fued of the mid 90's... The culmination of my trajectory as a wrestling fan. I started watching in the mid 80's, and Cactus Jack was one of the first wrestlers that I ever had the pleasure of watching (NWA/Eastern Championship, I think. Maybe only NWA... I can't remember) on video tape. Then, around 1988 or 89, when I really started watching WWF, the wrestlers I actually enjoyed watching over there were few and far between... until Survivor Series, and The Undertaker. By the time it actually happened, I had been waiting for several years to see Mick Foley and 'Taker fight each other... and I was NOT disappointed!
Noticed when the Buried Alive match. It was said Mankind won, and he didn’t Taker did
I heard Nash say that he was "honored" to do the job for Taker on his way out.
Best wrestling channel on ALfirst
I assumed the tear drop was to represent the moarning of Kane. Wouldn't that make sense since Bearer was feuding with Taker, and Taker was afraid of Bearer exposing Taker's secret? I know that part of the angle happened a bit later on after Taker first started the tear drop gimmick, but I think my theory is backed by the common representation of what a teardrop tattoo under the eye means, and in most cases it represents the people you feel guilty killing
I had no idea that Kevin Nash actually was playing the dead Diesel during that scene. Nash totally sells the drama upon discovering his dead self. I just always thought twas a lookalike in the casket that Diesel gasped at, but knowing the camera trickery gone into it now, its actually even more impressive. And you are right about it being an under rated scene in the Undertakers canon. For its pre Attitude Era time aswell, its quite eerie and envelope pushing.
Anybody else binge watching these incredible Undertaker series here in prep for the upcoming Survivor Series? These episodes not only provide awesome remembrances but are gearing me up for Sunday comin'.
Taker vs Yokozuna is still one of my favourites of all time Congratulations on your success, you earned it
awesome the career of the mark william calaway aka undertaker back in 1996 !!!!
I think he had that teardrop because he got buried alive
I was 6 and 7 years old watching Cactus Jack debut as Mankind and fued with the Undertaker. And winning. It was so exciting knowing his history as Cactus feuding with Big Van Vader and the powerbomb on the pavement. As a kid I was totally invested with my friends. Lol.
Wow,came to this channel only through the suggestion of youtube but man your work is great...Juz Awesome👍👍👍

fun fact about the SummerSlam Boiler Room match, my father in law helped get it all set up because was working for the arena at the time as part of maintenance so he had all the access the areas.
Iirc mankind didnt get the win Taker won but the heels ended up rescuing mankind and burrying taker
This is my favorite year in wrestling ever. I was 13 and just obsessed.
Hell yeah keep up the good work
You're wrong about the buried alive match, taker actually won but he didn't stop throwing dirt on mankind and that's when all the heels came out and buried taker alive
I saw the buried alive trick on the magic revealed show. I guess they hired a magician to set it up. Still an awesome moment.
This channel is better than cable. Awesome feed
I remember I used to hate mankind so much during this time. Cuz taker was super over and mankind kept getting the upper hand.

Undertaker 2021 WWE HOF Inductee I'm Predicting it right now
18:48 That "It's Time" logo aesthetic with its sharp elegant colors (transparent white-to-chrome and black) feels like it would fit in years later in 2000 or 2001.
I don't even watch wrestling anymore. Haven't watched in many years. But I can't stop binging your videos. They're so well made and very entertaining. I'm this close to getting a WWE network subscription so I can watch some of these amazing matches you talk about. Thanks so much and keep up the great work!
IDK maybe Bruce Prichard was confirming it was Glen Jacobs while at the same time insulting him...
I miss 1996 being 13 smoking weed and watching wwf and enjoying life I didn't know one person that pass away yet that I cared about what I wouldn't do to start it over I miss these days so much 💔
I think some of the accounts leaving positive comments on this video are fake/bots. Especially the ones that say generic things like "this is the best channel ever!" which can literally be copied and pasted onto any comment section. Just click on some of these channels and you'll see they have zero activity on them. It's very common for creators to purchase fake views, comments, and subs.
Good stuff, but Taker actually won the Buried Alive match with Mankind. The interference and Taker getting buried happened after that
Maybe the tear drop was in commemoration of his little brother Kane, once he came back
Even if Prichard says it was a dummy, that was a real man. And the side view of that nose before Nash closed the casket, looked like that Glen Jacobs nose... That just makes me think these WWE producers are willing to hide truths even outside the ring.
I give you major props but I have to correct an error you made as someone who I admit am an undertaker mark(no pun intended), but Undertaker actually won the Buried Alive match against mankind, it’s a common misconception that Mankind won considering how the show ended. Executioner hit with him with the shovel after the bell ring and then the heels joined in. Go back and watch it yourself.
These youngsters have know idea about seeing guys like Austin, Taker, Rock, HBK, HHH, the Horsemen, Sting, Hogan, NWO, Goldberg on a weekly basis in constant feuds. Back when tag teams stayed together for years. Greatest era ever
I wish Taker and Nash had more matches. They had great chemistry.
I was there at the Vancouver International Incident..first time I ever got to see The Undertaker live .. still get goosebumps
I couldn't stand Paul Bearer, his facial expressions and the way he acted really annoyed me
Hey bro love your insight. Love the channel. But there is one mistake i caught. Mankind did not win the buried alive match. Undertaker won that. The part with the executioner and the others happened after Taker was awarded the win. If you go back and watch it. You'll see what I'm talking about.
Music credits at the beginning ??
undertaker was so good he never needed any belt to make him and his matches more interesting
Omg there was so much more to the Undertaker than I ever knew! Great bios - subbed.
Great video but taker won the buried alive match thou
As always Dear friend another great job. I am truly grateful for you and all that you are doing for us your fellow wrestling fans. Please take care of yourself, & may all your championship matches have favorable outcomes. Till next time friend, be safe in all your endeavors. 😁👍😁👍😁👍😁👍😁👍😁👍😁👍😁👍😁
Wow great job on 100k subscribers
i want this song of the undertaker's where did you get it?,ohhhh yeahhh singgg itttt
15:11 Paul’s face🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This was the first year I was truly invested in everything The Undertaker was involved in. I loved the feud/matches with Bret, Diesel, Mankind and Goldust and Undertaker’s whole in ring style sped up.
Undertaker worked some very good matches during this time. Undertaker was a great in ring talent with an excellent gimmick
As a way to connect the career videos of the Undertaker, why not make a video of Paul Bearer in the near future, too? That'd be awesome.
It was undertaker that won the buried alive match not mankind
WrestleMania XII was what I like to think the end of the 'Undead Avenger' era for The UnderTaker in WWE. Anything from April 1 on to the 1996 Survivor Series was Taker starting to explore darker and more violent content to his character, truly becoming fearsome before the 'Lord Of Darkness' era began. And a slight correction here, W-B....Taker WON the Buried Alive Match.
Rey without the mask please please...great channel man 👍🏻
i like watching your channle because, its like watching all the deleted scenes from 90's movies that i loved as a kid i didnt get to see untill now.
Love the videos mate. Can't wait for more. Only thing I got to say on this video is The Undertaker actually won the Buried Alive match with Mankind. He buried Mankind enough for the Referee to make the call. It was after this that all the heels came in. They got Mankind out of the grave and they put the Deadman in and buried him completely.
Undertaker is the worst wrestler ever
no hes not you gave no real reason to hate him you schmuck
Abdullah the butcher and Stan hansen please
Nash: I wouldn't have taken a loss because that's too many in a row. Also Nash: Taker wouldn't have stopped himself from losing at Mania because he's not a mark. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Never mind thanking us for subscribing, thank you so much for such in depth look at the psychology of the matches and explaining it with passion. fantastic video as always.
Mate, your Undertaker videos are better than the actual DVD release of Undertakers career
This is, genuine, quality content. Second to none my friend. Congrats on the milestone achievement. Well deserved.
I always thought it was a wax figure of Diesel
i like ministry undertaker from 1999 ministry undertaker was awesome
1999 Undertaker was amazing. He was so evil and looked great at that time
Go on, have a like and comment on me.
The undertaker vs Mankind story was pretty awesome, thanks for bringing all the old memories back *_*
Undertaker and Mankind worked so many classic yet brutal matches together
I absolutely loved that match I was there live to see it . It was a very good match
I totally disagree. This was not his best match. Taker vs. HBK will be the best
Undertaker and Shawn Michaels worked so many classic matches together. Two of the biggest legends ever in the wrestling business
Undertaker is the goat he’s not even my favorite wrestler but you gotta give it to him
Undertaker is one of the very best of all time
I'm not the only who realize he remixed this undertaker theme just for him right????? Ctfu
Beware of Dog was before King of the Ring Just sayin
Very cool started watching at 15k .... 100 k good for u man
All of your videos are great, but your most recent vids have been epic. Your Undertaker series and 2 Man Power Trip vids in particular are on another level. Thank you for bringing back so many great memories- when the WWF had real stars.Taker was awesome from 90-99. Diesel was at his best in 96- he was meant to be a heel. Their W12 match was the 2nd best match of the event- 2nd only to Shawn vs Bret. 96 was some of Taker's best work too. His persona reinventions up through 99 were brilliant. Thank you for making these works of fine art.
You deserve it, Wrestling Bios
Undertaker won the buried alive match, then the heels attacked Taker, unburied mankind and buried taker. According to mick foleys first book
Beware of dog was in may 1996, King of the ring was in June. The video makes it seem like Mankind fought Taker and then interfered in the ic match.
Undertaker actually won that Buried Alive match.
Been with you for a long time. My favourite youtube guy. Glad you made it.
That’s a bunch of Bullbutter on the 100k subscribers...... u should be at a million subscribers.... This channel is awesome
Congrats u got much love from us for doing what u do bro keep it coming n we'll keep watching love bro👊
The Undercocker
Undertake is a spooky man
Congratulations on 100k! I have enjoyed and supported your channel since the beginning. Thank you for this content and your great work putting it together.
Um. Undertaker won Burried Alive against Mankind
I assume you'll cover it when you do Taker in '99 but I think you need to do a whole video of the Greater Power debacle as its own entry
I don't understand the dislikes. This dude is amazing at what he does.
Best wrestling channel this! 👍 from 🇩🇰
Do you have any old wwf Dvds willing to sell
I always assumed the Diesel in the casket was a really good wax dummy. I've seen some that are incredibly realistic, and since it's only the face that gets shown, I thought that's what it was.
grats on 100k
Love this channel. Please keep up the good work! One small caveat though. Although Taker did get buried at SS 96, he had already won the match at this point.
