When it comes to the very best Royal Rumble match in WWF / WWE history, many will say that nothing is better than the 1992 edition of the famous showdown between 30 superstars. With the WWF championship on the line, the top stars of the World Wrestling Federation met in the ring on the 19th of January 1992 in what many consider the true “greatest” Royal Rumble of all time.
After Ric Flair had got involved in Hulk Hogan’s WWF championship matches at Survivor Series 1991 and This Tuesday in Texas, the WWF championship was vacated. WWF President Jack Tunney announced that the winner of the 1992 Royal Rumble would also become the new undisputed WWF Champion, so there was a lot at stake in the rumble match. Along with Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan, the 1992 Royal Rumble was truly star-studded… the match also featured guys like Roddy Piper, Macho Man Randy Savage, Sid Justice, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Kerry Von Erich and loads more. This video looks at the entire Royal Rumble match along with the famous promo afterwards delivered by “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

Royal Rumble 1992 - The True "Greatest" Royal Rumble

Let me know your favourite Royal Rumble match and maybe we can do this again soon!
My father, my brother and myself brought on paperview and video recorded on VHS along with the next Saturday Nights Main Event and watched from 92 all the way to 2008 when my vcr broke. The greatest rumble ever.
ROYAL RUMBLE 94!!! NOT becuase of Bret Hart or Lex Luger, NO... But becuase The MILLION DOLLAR MAN was doing the commentary!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
89 with Big John Stud! and or 1990 Million Dollar Man went a long way in that one! HE didn't win it but it was still COOL! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😎😎😋
Royal Rumble 1997
This is the best Rumble ever. In '92, unlike today, there was very little behind the scene information available. The belt being on the line meant that all of the top stars were in the match and you didn't know which way it was going to go. Flair and Heenan put it over the top. Later years didn't have all the top stars in the match and had the title shot on the line instead. There is more predictability with this approach to the match combined with the behind the scenes rumors and there is no comparison to the '92 match.
Remember watching this in 92 and not being able to stay seated! Amazing to see Flair finally back up all his pre-rumble trash talk. The magical days of pro wrestling
"Super fly comes out to an odd round of boo's" Right. Strange before the internet exists that a wife beater and murderer gets boo'd.
Piper, Jake and Flair in the ring at the same time make it the best ever ... just these three in the ring alone.
i am lmao at slaughter having no choice but sell sid excluding him from the match
Nothing but legend after legend. Real talk.
The presentation was great
Funny I watched this rumble recently and really thought that it was the best. The collection of characters and different personalities was great. They were iconic and realistic in their execution
Simply The BEST pro wrestling channel on ALfirst.
92 and stone colds were good and 2020 was the best since stone colds 3 wins
A classic LEGITIMATE example of why "The Man" moniker should always be associated with Ric Flair. Yea, there's countless reasons for it, but if this isn't a Top 5 example, then I don't know what is. BTW, this is my favorite Royal Rumble, and Flair's performance is a big reason why (obviously 😉). Great video, you just made me break out my own copy of it to watch again!
So flair falling over is up bump ? God wrestling is easy .. can wrestlers seriously my bump it’s aooooo easy
The greatest Royal Rumble of all time all star cast Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon were hillilarrious they made it so entertaining
Best and most entertaining Rumble ever!! My 5 memories are: 1) That bell everytime a new wrestler came out 2) Heenan saying "dammit!" when Flair came out at no 3 loool. 3) Hogan clotheslining The Undertaker over the top rope I think it was 4) Randy Savage charging down the aisle to find Jake The Snake Roberts who ending up hiding. Then when Savage eliminated him he still went after him and Taker went after Savage. But Savage still went for Roberts 🤣🤣🤣 5) Sid to Hogan: " It's every man for himself.... BIG BOIIII!" Lmaoooo Such a great Event 💯
95' had the VHS as a kid, no royal rumble is referenced more and HBK was in top form.
I miss WWF 80s and 90s
There will never in my lifetime be another Royal rumble as good as that. There's just no star power anymore.
Small detail : Pretty sure the crowd was chanting "HOO HOO HOO " at Snuka, basically his rallying cry. Not booing.
My favorite part of Flair's promo is when Gene yelled "Put that cigarette out"!
I've always wanted a bio pic with Ben Stiller as Ric Flair.
I thought that match was pretty fair to Flair
You have to them all surely ? Really well done I was 12 they were my heroes
why didn't I just watch the actual royal rumble?
Is 1992 the best year of wrestling?
I loved when piper won the ic belt from the Mountie this was deffo the best rumble and the brain was deffo on top form with gorilla loved it
To me it was the most profile pack royal rumble!
I bet if McMahon had to do over again he would squash Flair like he did all other Jim Crockett Promotions/WCW talent
You can tell Hogan was off the coke in this phase . Looks like he was on minimal roids too.
Maybe just test and deca .
Uhhhhh...............why did you put apostrophes after " the Hulk Hogan's and the Macho Man's " ??? That makes no grammatical sense .
I think Edge was one of the most overhyped stars ever... At least as far as being the world/wwe champion
What a rumble ...
No mullets were harmed in the making of this video.
Would love to see you do this same video with shawn Micheals, Rey mysteriously and Chris Benoit when they won the Rumble.
Who is Jim Herd?
I think this is probably the greatest Rumble ever. 94 and 2003 were pretty solid too.
Ted Dibiase comes out number 2 "well he didn't buy a number this year". I always remember on the VHS I got it was a coliseum video exclusive and Ric Flair said in a interview he drew number 3 and being young at the time I didn't understand why Bobby Heenan was upset when he came out at number 3 "OH NO". Until I realised it was an exclusive for the video release.
The best👍
Pay homage 2 da man....wwwoooooooo
This was always my favorite royal rumble as a kid. Good to see it again.
2/3 of the participants in '92 RUMBLE have passed away :(
one word ... "WOOOOOO"!!!!
Loved the rumble intros
Its funny, when Sid eliminated Hogan, Sid got a huge pop...Hogan was so mad, Hogan was 1992 heel of the year....he just didn't know it
Jack Tunney- This is going to be a um ah er um? Ah undertaking tonight.
Gays
Are you sure the fans were not just mimicking that chant that Snuka used to do? They did that quite often
Classic
That's not the original promo... The original started with...after video distorting the belt...in proclaiming the real worlds champion
The repo man ........
The font and effect that was used to write "ROYAL RUMBLE" in those times were so eye catching it was just fun when the Rumble season came around it was such a spectacle... the GRAND OLD DAYS
More like Royal Cocaine steroid rumble🤣
The rumble is my favorite match every year, and this one is probably the best of the best.
IT'S NOT FAIR TO FLAIR!
I’m from Albany NY and the rumble has always been my favorite ppv
FLAIR & HEENAN were gold. Everything they did was perfection. This the GOAT!! I watch it every 6 to 8 months. 1. Ric goes over to Undertaker - What are you doing!!! He's choking the life outta him. 2. Skinner, he'll just spit in your mouth. 3. Where is Perfect!!! 4. Oh No!! Not Piper, of all people. Best Pop of the night. *Note* One guy starts beating his friend in the stands. ☺ 5. Don't turn on him Hick, Don't turn on him Rick!! 6. Flair wins!! What are you nuts?
Also the greatest poster. I could look at that for ages as a kid
i totally forgot how sgt slaughter got thrown tfo lol
They weren’t booing Snuka, the crowd was chanting “whoo whoo whoo” which was what Shuka would do normally
I love that music that used to introduce the WWF PPV’s . Thanks for playing it when you started this video. This is one of the best shows you have ever made on this channel.
You can’t forget the influence of some of the “background feuds” from the territory days of AWA (Martel), World Class (Von Erich), Mid-South (Dibiase) & Flair’s history with Piper. It’s a dream schmoz, I tell ya.
Great video as always 👏👏👏
Ric Flair Best There Is, Was, And Ever Will Be
I was 11 and lived for anything wresting back in the day! The arcade game I must have spent 10 grand on playing it 😂
Probably one of thr best promos ever. Great rumble and probably is the best Imo hogan wouldnt of done the flair match without protecting himself if he lost. Which i feel he should of
So sad the rumble match has became so formulaic and predictable.
Fantastic times. The best wrestling, the Golden Era! The music brings back such memories. It was FUN!Like pantomime. Wrestling today is far too serious NO FUN, no characters, no Bobby The Brain!.
I never liked Shawn Michaels, even when he was with Rockers, was just something about him I didn't like and then he turned on Marty. Also Sycho Sid was one of my all time favorite wrestlers
Bossman's elimination is burned into my mind ever since I saw it as a kid, Vince McMahon ended up doing a similar whiplash bump when Chyna eliminated him.
The Royal Rumble 1992 really was the best of all time. Just look at all these absolute legends like Hogan, Flair, Undertaker, Savage, Shawn Michaels, Bulldog, Piper, Jake Roberts, Jimmy Snuka, Sgt. Slaughter, Kerry Von Erich and so on. If Bret Hart and Mr. Prrfect were in there the Rumble would have been....well...perfect
Berzerker and Hacksaw look like they have the same parents that are brother and sister.
This is truly one of if not the best rumble! Personally I feel this rumble or the 2001 rumble claim the prize of best rumble ever!
Really enjoyed this vid. great effort. Such a great rumble.
Repo Man made everything better
This might legitimately be my favorite channel on ALfirst.
Whooooooooo
1990 is better IMO. Peak WWF with a better roster and a red hot crowd.
During the New Foundation - Orient Express match: Brain: If I was managing Owen Hart, there's no way I'd let him do moves like that, far too dangerous! Niedhart tags in Brain: Now you won't be seeing HIM do moves like that! Gorilla: Well I hope not!
"This video would be 40 minutes of Bobby Heenan quotes if I mentioned everything" I don't see the problem.
This was my very first wwe experience and why I fell in love with wrestling
I enjoyed 92 but 97 has always been my favorite from start to finish. Great upload as always
Watching the 1992 Royal Rumble on home video is what got me started into watching the WWF for many years after that. Great to see that it gets the respect it rightfully deserves.
1996 defo
1998 2nd
95 97 99 01 05 06
Of my early days watching pro wrestling, the 92 Rumble was a memorable one because of Flair’s performance. However, my favorite was the 1990 one.
Macho Man had never quite understood the rules of a rumble. He tried pinning yokozuna the following year. If you’re gonna do another Rumble 06,
See the force Sgt Slaughter went into that post
That's what Sgt. Slaughter did a lot of times in his matches. Indeed it looked brutal
I completely agree with you. This was the best rumble ever!! I was a Hulkamaniac from the beginning and 2 of the greatest wwe ppvs ever have little to no ending victory for him. (The other being SS92) Sidenote: I was pissed when I bought that Rumble Story DVD, 92' was mentioned, which i was okay with, but the match itself wasn't included in the collection. FACK, BROTHER!!
I was really pulling for Repo Man
Any else here born in 92?
The golden age of pro wrestling
1991 was the greatest royal rumble
Snuka didn't come out to a round of boos it was the crowd saying ooh-ooh-ooh as they always did with Snuka.
Looked like Jake eliminated himself too, in the Big Bossman tradition
Undertaker: 29 other wrestlers will be looking at the wrestler of the 1990s, and honestly a lot of them really will be dead before the end of the 1990s anyway,, so me and Paul got Vince a deal and told him it's ok to do house shows to death. RIP!
Ric Flair: Meeeeeannnnnnnn Geeennnnnnneeeeeeeeee, I've said it all along, I'm the real worlds champagne. The Hillbilly Nwa belt should prove it along with my champagne bill. There'll be no backdoor tonight because I'm so poor now I can't afford any escorts, but mainly well, I don't know maybe this guy Terra Rizin...perhaps....wooooooo!!!!
Sid: I'm going to cut to the chase. Boys backstage had this tournament. You get asked questions and if ya get em wrong you keep advancin. Well, the Ruler of the Universe just proved it again. I won. I put out Virgil and the Bushwaskers...or whomsoever and them Nasties Boyz.....just to make a point, I'm comin for that Intercontinental heavyweight belt!! RULER!!!!
Macho Man: I've been to the top of the mountain, oh yeah, and there I found a guy named Hulk Hogan there, not a nice guy, dig-it?
Shawn Michaels: Marty, I did you a favor. Now 29 guys don't want to beat you up. And it's something that I've known all along, that the Boy Toy, ole HBK, will get beat by 29 other guys and do what I do better than you Marty, get high, wrestle and draw heat. I'll also get beat up by 29 other guys in Syracuse, even if it was 1, who cares, I'm the highest, ah hottest, thing in wrestling today!!
Hot Rod: ah....hhheeew.....awww.....only in America they say...THEaY SAY!! 15 years old......skinny......no bones.....no clothes.....NO HOPE!!!!! Well, I found a way, a way out of the darkness, into a kennel called the WWF, a way forward from the blinding darkness into the blinding light of HOPE......and I PREVAILED.....and in the most perfect hour a man wants only one thing: perfection, Gene.....and that's what I'm going to do: go from hope, to prevail, to perfection.....haha i may even take on Mr. Perfect too after and take his perfection......hahahawwwhh what about it?
Repo Man: well, i may have to steal the WWF title, as it's the only way to get it, but when I get flicked out first, I'll go back and be the only one with Miss Elizabeth in the dressing room, and I'll steal something else. Bahhahahahah!
