It's 5.20.1996 and it's time to watch WCW Nitro and WWF Raw to see which show was really the best. This week's episode of Reliving The War marks the end of an era for World Championship Wrestling; not only is this the last Nitro broadcast to run under 2 hours, but this is also the calm before the storm... the final Nitro before Scott Hall's WCW return (leading to the eventual formation of the nWo). The whole Monday Night War was about to drastically change.
Raw is showing taped matches from Sioux City Iowa while Nitro is live from Monroe, Louisiana. The Steiner Brothers, Ric Flair, Eddie Guerrero and The Giant all work matches on TNT while The British Bulldog, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Savio Vega and Jake "The Snake" Roberts compete on the USA Network. The 1996 Slamboree results are also covered in this video.
00:00 - WCW Slamboree 96 Results
04:24 - The Steiners vs Fire & Ice / Steve Austin vs Marc Mero
09:20 - Savio Vega vs 1-2-3 Kid / Ric Flair vs Eddie Guerrero
14:29 - Sting and Lex Luger defend the WCW Tag Titles
19:44 - Jim Cornette Promo / DDP in action
22:36 - The Main Events
26:08 - Final results / Next Week's RTW

DDP has to give himself a self high five since he lost his woman twice to 2 different guys, lol.
"Ahmed Johnson was so over that this kid started beating himself over the head during his entrance" lol would to here a bit of classic heel king commentary over those pictures.
So wait Jake the snake just got gased, passed out, and the match just ended..?
I really thing WCW missed a big opprotunity by not having Glacier do battle with... ...(sigh)... The Bootyman
When it comes to ALfirst and wrestling this bud here is MVP
It would be great to see a video about Nitro in its pre NWO days.
Savio Vega was underrated!
' The little Phenom ' 😂
Thanks for memories
I'm curious to see how the format might change again once raw goes to a two hour show
at the time it didn’t bother me, but watching all these nitros back & seeing ric flair week is getting stale.
Heh heh heh...he said 'the little phenom'.
Just binged the whole series in the last 3 days, cant wait for the next episode
FLAIR was in his element Tonite...
What if when he bought them he named it nitraw
There should be at least 2 videos on 'reliving the war', coz its that damn good.
Just want to say been here since episode 1 and I'm really loving the series! Always been waiting for Thursday to come about to watch the next episode. Keep up the great work!
the sigh before that "blood runs cold" spot is too much lol
instantly heard american males theme play when he stated most masculine theme song. am i the only one?
Maybe Taker's little phenom could be referred to as the Grim Raper..?
You couldn't of planned it better having the first phase in 2020 and the next phase starting in 2021.
No more Pepe!! Sigh,
Whatever is coming, it better be good!
Does anyone else save these to watch every Monday instead of Thursday??
The way I would compare the two sohws is just, describe which sements ran unopposed and then rate the other as you have been. But weigh up wether or not the unopposed segments were a "watch or Not" qaulity wise.
My 13th birthday was on this day in 1996.
I loved everyone of them I look forward to this every Thursday
self high 5 ddp theme music is wild i just returned from checking it out! keep em comin brother!
Thank you for another great video, and happy new year !
I enjoyed the split screen stuff
Finally caught up, this has been awesome and brought back a lot of childhood memories 👍🏻 thank you for this
I often disagree with your decisions. The Steiners/Fire and Ice match should have won over Austin/Mero. The Steiner match was more impressive and hard hitting and a better example of what wrestling should be.
Woah, we're here already? Can't wait for the actual war to kick off.
Happy New Year brother we love it keep up the good work you were most definitely one of my most favorite wrestling channels of all time!!!
Nice
Can't wait for the new era of Nitro to start next week! I'm also looking forward to Fairbanks' idea being executed. Should be fun!
Macho man getting undervalued and underutilized makes me a little annoyed. I know flair is or was one of the bookers at the time but I thought that he could've put macho man over a couple times. Hogan couldve as well but I feel like they didn't
Thank you!
this series is great, i wish it was twice a week
This series is amazing. Been watching it religiously. Can't believe that I wasn't subscribed. Fellow none subscribers unite and give this lad some support and hit that button. Awesome series mate!
It's Saturday... You know what that means. Great work once again, Bios!
Can’t wait for next week!
Does anyone have the rest of the Puerto rican chicken soup recipe? I paused the videos to get the chickens now i am not sure what to do with them.
Was this the true first time that the "Suck It" chop was performed in a match?!?? Before Shawn did it when talking about Brett Hart...
If memory serves right next week starts to get interesting! Love the series thank you
Rick flair faced Eddie a lot of times on reliving the wars. I imagine flair back stage saying, "I don't care what the rest of you guys do...I wanna wrestle Eddie"
RIP Kevin green
savio vega was underrated
i feel like this is your best episode yet!!
Great video again my man... Hope pepe makes a big return later
Awesome! I love it!
WOOOOO!! GREATEST SHOW ON ALfirst, BROTHER!! OH YEEAAAH!!
Considering WWE (or WWF at the time) had an actual camera crew at the house show where the "Curtain Call" happened, I have to wonder why they reference it at times using some "bootleg" handheld camera footage of the incident instead of the high quality pro shot footage of it. Did they shut the cameras off directly after the main event ended? If they didn't, did they destroy the footage of the Curtain Call? Were the fans in MSG (that usually tend to be more smarkish, actually cheering the incident instead of being confused and uncertain? It leaves a lot of questions to ponder, to me at least.
2021 is gonna be great on RLW!! NWO and DX are right around the corner
Kicking off my new year rite lol 🔥🔥🔥🔥
2 terrible finishes
The subzero zip off 😓
Wish Macho went back to WWF in 97
When you said "No more close ups of Pepe" I did the Matt Riddle Awww Happy New Years Everybody!!
Good episode man. Loving the series
Thank you for your craft
That sigh at 19:28 killed me hahaha
FoF should have been a top tag team.
I always let out a big chuckle whenever you say "little phenom"
Happy New Year everyone!
Never go the meltzer route.
Best series on ALfirst
One of my favorite things about this series is the long feud between Wrestling Bios and Ed "The Booty Man" Leslie.
I like when you say "Scotty" Steiner.
Can't wait for the Ed Leslie bio update
Tempted to go full on patron and pay for it myself
"The Little Phenom" L O L !!
I don't care how many times it comes up, Jim Cornette is an overrated horse's ass
I love how you're just getting more and more tired of the recurring "Blood Runs Cold" promo.
Re-living the War is the best. Nitro vs. Raw is most wrestling fans favorite time. So to see the whole thing is not only historically awesome but so so entertaining. I really do think you have the hottest formula here and I truly hope once the NWO hits and the Attitude era hits, that you get the hundreds of thousands of views that you will absolutely deserve. Thanks again for a weekly routine. I’m so glad I was here with your videos from week one.
This series is amazing. I can only imagine the work that goes into putting this together with such great detail on both shows. Someone who has never watched these would be able to understand what was happening during this time period. Great work and the war is about to pick up! Happy New Year and thanks for working on this for us all to enjoy!
I’m glad we don’t see Shawn Michaels shaking his shoulder on the intro
Lets goo!!!! 2021 releaving the war!!
Happy new year mate thanks for the constant content I for one look forward to a Thursday for the reliving the war series well done
How could I not stick with a fellow countryman? Happy New Year from Coleraine.
Lol, the Meltzer route for the popular vote? That’s the only vote involved. There’s not electoral college here. But it’s your channel. Do what you think is best, it’s been great thus far.
Wow. How did I forget about the DDP self high five? 🤦♂️ honestly though I'd like to see a long form video on the career of DDP. I'm still going through your back catalog and you may have already done one. Either way when you know the whole story of Dallas i.e. his age when becoming a performer and his run in WCW. Its pretty damn impressive. "🙌...BANG!!!!!"
Yup I found it. 👍
Lmao. I love how you're selling the "blood runs cold" spots. 🤣
thank you. i look forward to each new episode
The last *WCW* _Monday Nitro_ before the *nWo* era starts.
Awesome
Has that got to be the first Suck it taunt in pro wrestling
Mid to late 90's wcw were some of Paul white's best matches in his career.
Just looking at the thumbnail Ddp vs shawn would have been a hell of a match
Arn Anderson. One of the greatest.
Disappointed you ignored our thousands of votes. I feel like an American; voting for no reason.
Was DDP born with wrapped ribs?
The origins of Syxx...
THANK YOU so much for this series, as its ALOT of work 💯 and takin me down memory lane 🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍💯💯💯
Eddie vs r flair match is a classic #wcw
This series is great man you doing awesome work. I think your channel is the best wrestling channel on ALfirst keep it up.
WCW: Hey Fans! Purchase our PPV and invest hours to watch a weird, random tag team/battle royal tournament that will determine the #1 contender for the world title! Fans: Umm...ok. WCW: (A day later) Never mind what happened, Lex Lugar is the #1 contender!
1:26 into the video is ME on the right holding up White foam US title belt with 4 fingers in the air. Very cool reliving this. And also cool to be posting on Jan 1st, 2020. THUMBS UP from us at The Card Shop in Bastrop, Louisiana only 25miles from Monroe, LA site of this episode of Nitro!
Spoiler alert! We probably won't find out what "blood runs cold" means until 2022.
The show I look forward to the most! Can’t wait for next Thursday already
Will you be doing a career video of Brodie Lee/Luke Harper?
